I love the smell of rain. Freshly baked cookies right from the oven. A bouquet of roses. A latte at a coffee shop. Sweet vanilla. The list goes on and on. I love that God decided when He created man to give us the sense of smell. The sense of taste. The sense of sight. The sense of touch. The sense of hearing. The wonderful 5 senses of the human body. Today I will talking about the sense of smell. There’s something about an aroma that you absolutely love. It opens up your lungs. Makes your mind more alert. It makes your eyes widen. Maybe your mouth starts watering. It’s just something about your favorite smells that you can’t just get enough of . You know I believe God has many favorite aromas He made them all. But, I also believe out of all the aromas He created there’s one that tops them all. I think it’s this.
“Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing.
2 Corinthians 2:15
I believe this is Papa’s favorite scent of all time. The Bible has many verses about burnt offerings as sweet aroma to the Lord to as well but that was before when Jesus came. Now that Jesus has already come and is coming back quickly God is wants obedience rather than sacrifice meaning He wants your love for Him and His ways. That aroma is the best of them all. You know there’s a lot of religious people claim that they are close to God because of their actions. They do all the “right” religious activities. Jesus said ” They honor Me with their mouths but their heart is far from Me”(Matthew 15:8). I don’t want to be a woman who’s lips honor God but my heart is far from His. That’s all the religions of the earth except Christianity. God did all work by sending His only Son Jesus to die for our sin because He loves us. He just wants our hearts and lives. He wanted us to be with Him in Heaven and still does.
So I challenge you and myself that the next time you smell something good think about how that make you feel? Then take that feeling and think about how God feels when you pray, tithe, a caring act, telling the truth etc. How does that make you feel? I know it makes me feel good to know that the God of the universe can feel delight by my Christ like life. I think it’s way cool. Where are those samples at? haha
