The Voice of God
Arise Jerusalem and shine like the sun. The glory of the Lord is shining on you! Other nations will be covered by darkness, But on you the light of the Lord will shine; The brightness of his presence will be with you. Nations will be drawn to your light, And kings to the dawning of your new day(Isaiah 60:1-3).
I believe you are the dawn in this passage. How does that make you feel? Does it make you feel overwhelmed? Not sure? Relaxed? Wonderful? Confused? Do you have a running thought in your mind like “Mmm..I don’t feel like a morning of sunshine and rainbows when I get up in the mornings(Raise your hand all the not morning people in the house)! Whether you are a morning person or not this passages holds true to whoever holds it. This is truth. This is light. This is the love and joy of God to us as women. Many times in the Bible God refers Jerusalem as a she. As a woman. The Lord gives us many things in His beautiful Word about how He feels about various certain matters. Injustice, persecution, the orphan, the widow, wars and famine. As we know the list unfortunately goes on and on. But in that list is one of the two He has made in His very image. The story of women throughout history has been of great struggle yet also of great courage and triumph. She perseveres through trials. She gets on her knees and prays to her Savior. She guards her relationship with Him. She encourages and roots on her sisterhood and she comes along side her fellow brother in supporting, loving and helping him as they walk through this crazy life together.
Hephzibah means: My delight is in her. Read on what God says about you.
For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch. The nations will see your vindication, and all kings your glory;you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah,[a] and your land Beulah[b];for the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married. As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you;as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you
